Dear Mr. President,

As you may know, Sudan, specifically the Darfur region, is going through a major crisis at the moment. Masses of people are dying every day for no valid reason at all. Innocent civilians are being tortured, murdered, and brutally raped. Thousands of children are left orphaned and thousands of parents left without their children and family. I agree with the United States government that this is a genocide and should be stopped in every way. I have known about this dilemma for an extensive period of time but did not realize that what was going on was indeed a genocide. Learning about Darfur has really impacted my life in numerous ways.

to do something about it. After the Holocaust, the U.N. promised us never again yet again and again and again we go though the same conflict. We have to do something before this turns into another holocaust, let’s not wait until six million people are dead, and then regret our actions, or shall I say regret not having any actions?
I understand that this is not America’s business into going into other people’s affairs. Also, we are already involved in Iraq and people will think that we are only targeting Islamic countries but are those good enough reasons to turn a blind eye? All those citizens in Darfur and refugees in Chad are so sad and ashamed of their country because their own country is doing this to them. We have to stand up and take an action to stop this genocide. We can all come together and stop buying Sudan’s natural resource, oil. Without oil, Sudan is nothing.
