After reading the Modest Proposal by Jonathan Swift you can conclude that his proposal was not so modest. In his proposal Swift ironically states an easy solution for the problems many people were facing in Ireland. The problems the people in Ireland faced were paying rent, finding sustenance, and being forced to beg for money or food in order to live. Swift' ironic solution to all these problems the people of Ireland faced was to eat the babies of age one. In my opinion I think he thought there wouldn’t be as much of a difference if the people just ate the young since the rich devoured the life out of them either way. Also because once they grew up in a place like most of them would turn into criminal and just make their situation much worse.
In my opinion his proposal was also in a way meant to say that if nothing was to be done to fix their problems then in the end it would all come to this, eating the young.
