Introduction

The urban sprawl that has engrossed Atlanta has created a huge problem involving water and water usage. At the center of this debate is the condition of Lake Lanier, which supplies water to several Georgia counties. Lake Lanier was created in 1956 when the Buford Dam was completed. (Sachs) The lakes waters come from the Chattahoochee River which runs through Georgia. (Sachs) Today the lake is a cold-water trout stream and the most visited federal reservoir in the country. (Sachs) The purpose of this discussion is to research the pro's of why we should dump 40 million ton of waste in "Lake Lanier " in the State of Georgia.
