In a seemingly prejudiced society, although continuous racial discrimination may be present to some, there has been a considerable growth in the movement towards racial acceptance, especially with respect to the freedom of marriage.

For as long as majority of the South can remember, there was an issue with interracial marriage. This issue was not only social, but a legal one as well. Marriage between Blacks and Whites was illegal until 40 years ago and was widely frowned upon after that until recently.
