Rituals

We have a very basic ritual in our family that we perform every year on Christmas Eve. I’m sure like most Americans do on this same night, we do the same. It consists of a family gathering with our family, my mom’s brother, her sister and children, her husband and our grandpa. Nothing too special happens on this evening, just a basic get-together to spend some time with each other.
On the morning of the 24th my grandpa calls at 7:00 in the morning. He is worried about the little stuff like sodas and snacks. He worries because the gathering is going to be at his house and it is his nature to worry about the little things. My uncle has the turkey cooked the day before, for what reason ...

About and hour later my aunt shows up. She is always late and her time is an hour difference from the regular time. She brings all her kids and her husband (whom wants nothing more than to go home) inside and tries to perk them up. Well after a while every body decides to eat and we all grab a plate and dig in. It’s not fancy at all- all plastic silverware and usually we just find a chair to sit down on and eat there.
After dinner and several long minutes of boredom the card table gets pulled out. My uncle tries to think that he knows what he’s doing and dumps a ton of baby powder on it. He said is makes the table smooth but all it did was make a mess. At about that point our family starts wondering if he’s from the same gene pool.
