Uniforms in schools especially can have a number of affects on the behavior and how they can be monitored. The number of violent and theft crimes that go on in school will drop tremendously. Fights among students over designer clothing and sneakers will be no more. Children who are more needy then others will not have to feel the competion amongst them if everyone is wearing the same clothes. It will also instill discipline in the students. School officials will no longer tolerate inappropraite sayings and pictures on shirts. Most importantly for inner city schools, uniforms will help detect when a non-student is in the building.
Uniforms cannot solve the problems of school discipline but is a step in the right direction. Along with the President, many school officails and parents are for the idea. Other programs such as drug prevention efforts, student-athlete drug testing used in conjuction with uniforms will show improvement in the schools and communities. “School ...
