Smoking On Campus

SPJC stated, “I hate when people smoke near me, it makes me sick!”. Just about every nonsmoker I asked had close to the same opinion. Of the 24 students I interviewed 5 were smokers. Why should so many of us have to suffer for a small percent of students to reap the benefits? The administrators know the effects of smoking, I guess they’re just not concerned about the well being of their students.
Second hand smoke should not be a problem on our campus. SPJC administrators should address the problem, and provide the means to alleviate it. One solution, that will accommodate both smokers and nonsmokers, is to establish a designated smoking area on campus for students and faculty. Another more drastic solution, is to ban all together. Although the outcome to this solution would not be as beneficial as the first. It believe the consequences of smoking should be brought to the attention of the smoking SPJC student.
