Song Review: “Iris”


There are many love songs on the radio. Some sing of falling
happily in love, some are written to be romantic. Then there are the ones
of tragic love, ones where there isn’t a happy ending. “Iris” is one of
those tragically romantic love songs. A person experiences the most
wonderful feeling, which is love. At the same time, they experience the
most tragic feeling, loss. To me, “Iris” is one of the most tragic love
songs.
The very first line in the song shows how much love this certain
guy feels for this girl. “And I’d give up forever to touch you,” he is
saying that he would do anything for her, no matter what it was. “You’re
the closest to heaven that I’ll ever be,” that shows ...

in love with the girl.
With this love, there is tragedy. “And you can’t fight the tears
that ain’t coming, or the moment of truth in your lies.” This line is the
saddest part of the whole song. The reality of the two not being able to
be together suddenly hits. For reasons unknown, they can not be together,
and this is the worst possible thing that can happen to two people who are
in love. This is the part of the song that makes it so tragic.
“Iris” is one of the best songs I have ever heard. The words are
very powerful and it creates a very strong image of two people hopelessly
