Temptation of Saint Anthony and Guatemalan Mural Comparison

A wall-mural discovered in Guatemala depicts the Mayan god of corn or regeneration and is thought to be 1900 years old. This piece is thought to be the oldest Mayan painting found to date. A six-foot-wide section of the mural is exposed on one wall of the room, but experts who visited the site last June believe that the painting extends to the other walls. In the painting, nine or more people are standing or kneeling in a scene surrounded by geometric designs.

The artist drew the figures almost as logos, not taking any effort to make them appear as any particular human beings. These flat images don't reveal any form of intentional shading. All of the characters in the painting are human ones, and all seem to be dancing. Nonetheless, all of the characters seem to be wearing elaborate costumes. The discovery of ancient murals is not uncommon: the Last Supper by Leonardo DaVinci was discovered in a barn. However, the art piece that I will compare this work to is The Temptation of Saint Anthony.
The artist Hieronymous Bosch created the Temptation of Saint Anthony in 1500 AD, 1400 years after the Mayan piece. It depicts the Saint being tormented by devils.
