Quite a few books on the topic of mummies can be found in library catalogues and on the site of (Cat Mummy, the Mummy's Curse, Ancient Mummies, Pharaohs and Pyramids, Mummies and Diseaseā€¦ This is especially the case, because people enjoy reading about the unusual and sometimes somewhat gruesome in pre-historic times. Who can say why humans are so fascinated by the subject of death and dying? But, they are. Most of these books go into the details of death, mummification and embalming, royalty and treasure, and ancient religions.

Silk Road, a trade route that supposedly linked the Western Roman Empire with the imperial court of China that started in 200AD and ended with the Mongul Empire. The scientists discovered a grave site at Cherchen that held several 3,500-year-old bodies. These were far better preserved than anything ever found in Egypt, due to the extremely dry air and because the burial was cut into a salt bed that quickened the process of dehydration. It was even possible to readily see that the bodies were dressed in exquisitely dyed clothing that had neither rotted nor even faded over the thousands of years. Here was "Cherchen Man." This was a perfect find to break that annoying bias about Egypt being the place for mummies.
