The United States Secret Service

The U.S secret service is a law enforcement division of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Its primary function was to stop the counterfeiting of money and investigation of fraud. In 1901 after the assassination of President William McKinley the secret service was also trusted to protect the president.
The secret services headquarters is in an unmarked building somewhere in Washington D.C. Inside the headquarters is the joint operations center which tracks the president at all times. It also tracks the vice president the president's family and also visiting ambassadors. The PPD is the division of the secret service that protects the president. The first was the assassination attempt on Andrew Jackson a man fired two percussion pistols point blank at president Jackson but both misfired president Jackson was not harmed. The first assassination of a president was in 1861 on president Lincoln, a pistol was fired at the back of his head and he died later that evening. The next successful presidential assassination attempt was President James A Garfield he was shot and died 11 weeks later due to infection. After the 1901 assassination of President William McKinley, Congress also directed the Secret Service to protect the President of the United States. In 1950 president Truman was living in Blair house while the white house was undergoing renovations.
