Prejudice and racism are not as openly discussed as it has been in the past however it is still a problem here within the United States. I don't know that we will ever be able to fully measure the effects of prejudice. I think that it effects of prejudice. I think that it affects everyone a little differently. I have to admit that I have been a part of being prejudice in my lifetime; judging people on how they dress, talk and look. doesn't come from ideology. Generally ignorance plays a large part in prejudice. Prejudice can be taught indirectly by exposure to others who are prejudiced against someone or something. To have a better understanding of what discrimination and prejudice are, it is best to define what each is and how they differ. Singling out or making a distinction is to discriminate. The unfair and unequal treatment of individuals based on specific characteristics is to discriminate. These characteristics can include issues such as age, disability, ethnicity, gender and national origin. Prejudice is a bit different. Prejudice is the attitude towards another person based on who they socialize with or what group they belong to. An individual that is prejudiced may never act on the attitude. Prejudice includes all three components of an attitude whereas discrimination just involves the behavior.
