In many countries, certain factions move to limit the rights of those who think differently, or have different cultures and viewpoints from their own. Mythology helps us to realize the similarities between our cultures. In recognizing our commonality we may be less inclined to mindlessly join the camps of those who believe this and those who believe that. This has been the basis for every war in human history, mythological, imagined, or real. In these wars are the archetypes of a protagonist, antagonist, help from supernatural powers to overcome seemingly insurmountable odds, and many other common themes such as good and evil, and heroism.
