Wrestling Decision
Throughout life, we're all faced with decisions. Many of these decisions, whether we know it, will follow us for the rest of our lives. My decision to wrestle is a good example. It is something that has been with me for the past five years.
When I was younger, I was a loser. I didn't have many friends or confidence and I certainly didn't like myself. Then, one day, the coach of the high school wrestling team came to my middle school with two of his wrestlers. He came in and talked about how it was the hardest sport there ever was and that it was only for people who were really dedicated. Listening to him talk, I was mesmerized. much more than that. Before I began wrestling, I didn't have any confidence in myself. Everyday, I would wake up feeling sorry for myself and let people walk all over me. After wrestling, I awake with a purpose, and I am respected by my peers. Wrestling has created a confidence in me that I would have never found somewhere else because deep down, I know that I work harder to compete in my sport than anyone else. That, in itself, keeps my head high. This also created my work ethic. Prior to wrestling, I had bad grades and was extremely lazy, but now I have to get something done or it irritates me to no end.
This great sport has also helped my health. I was very overweight as a child. It was actually a health concern of my doctor when I went in for check-ups. He said that I was overweight for my age and that this could lead to problems as I got older. As a child, I remember feeling anxiety over what might become of me as I got older.
