The use of colour imagery is used in an effective manner and enhances the text and its meaning. Firstly, the colour orange is distinctly chosen for Syvia’s coat and muffler because orange signifies brightness. As the book proceeds, pieces of Syvia’s bright coat were torn away such as the buttons, just like how the brightness of her life was slowly fading away. Another perspective this example can be looked at is that the adults of the ghetto would ask the Nazis questions but the Nazi’s would shrug it off as well.
