Around the room people talk, their mouths moving but no specific words can be made out. I just sit in the middle, dead silent and unsure as to whether or not I should even tried to join in on any given conversation. Sadly, I know that the slightest stutter or misuse of words would allow room for ridicule; yet, all I want is to fit in for once, not to be the joke of the crowd anymore, and finally not be the toy in a cruel form of entertainment. Every day I sit and wonder what it would be like without the harsh words and mean teasing; nevertheless, bullying has become an extremely huge problem, not only in schools but in other aspects of everyday life too.

oftentimes popular (Ormel, 2005) and are generally unaffected by causing pain and suffering (Hasel, 2004; Ormel, 2005). These types of people are easy to notice, and easy to stop; most bullies do not challenge authority and will run away from organized disciplinary action.
A bullies target on the other hand tends to have lower levels of self-esteem, high anxiety, and higher degrees of loneliness (Ormel, 2005). Although others don't realize it, many bully victims are unsure of their selves and are afraid to try and make new friends; therefore, their fragile state of mind allows a bully to dig and pick at them until they are broken down, with little to no effort. Commonly, many bully victims will end up becoming a bully to make up for how they were treated; This often happens quite a lot because bullying is a form of raising one's self-esteem at the expense of others.
