Dead Man Walking - Times Of Times

The film Dead Man Walking portrays the issue of the death penalty (or Capital Punishment) through the views of politics, religion, and personal opinion. The movie is based off a true story, where the main characters are Matthew who is the murderer, Mr. Delacroix/Percy’s who are the kids’ parents that died, and Sr. Helen who is Matthew’s spiritual leader.
Dead Man Walking portrays the issue of politics, because Matthew killed the boy and raped the girl and got the death penalty, while his cousin raped the girl and killed the girl, but only got life in prison without parole. Dead Man Walking in my personal opinion portrays the issue of the death penalty (or capital punishment), because it shows how the person going through it (Matthew) reacts to the death penalty, and how it effects not just him and the victims family but his family. I personally think it is unjust, because even though what Matthew did was clearly wrong and he made the wrong choice in a really bad way, but making a man know when he is going to die and have to wait to die, in the exact moment is clearly more tortures then what he did.
