Importance Of Music In Society

Music plays an important part in society. Sometimes music can make us cheerful or gloomy. However, when I attended Blackville Middle School Welcome Back Dance, I departed with vivid, fun memories of listening and dancing to a variety of melodies. Come and take the journey down memory lane!
The dance was sponsored by the B.M.S. cheerleaders and was held in the school’s gymnasium. The lobby was well lit with white glistening lights. Red concrete bricks led the walkway to the gym. There were many types of music played for the dancers and listeners. It changed for everyone who heard it. It may have been because of the taste, or the type of music. All the music had a different feeling. Two types of music, Rock and Pop had a calm feeling or a dance like quality. Both usually had a regular beat. Although there was nothing wrong with Eddie Dean’s, Ragay Cowboy or the Watermelon Crawl, they could not compare to Drew’s Famous Party Music, Electric Slide.
Another type of music was alternative. It was different because it had a combination of calm and hard sounding similar to Beck, Mutations or Sonic Youth, A Thousand Leaves. Alternative consisted of many smaller groups of music that could not be defined into other categories.
