When thirty nine delegates from all over the United States signed the document that would lead to be our Supreme Law of the Land, they changed our history as we knew it. Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, Benjamin Franklin, and countless other founding fathers wanted the citizens of the United States to have a guideline they could look to for help, but not a dictator that would ferociously rule their country. States has been a free country, we have taken pride in making our own decisions as a variety unpredicted occurences have happened. Living in a democracy and being able to use the Constitution as we believe fit is important in keeping our system running. A large part of that is having the ability to mold our rules over time and not being forced to believe only one thing that was decided for us. When the Supreme Court Case Marbery vs Madison was in trial in the early 1800's, the United States ruled that courts could oversee and nullify the actions of another branch of government, an idea called judicial review. In this case the acting justice Justice Marshall also declared a previous clame unconstitutional, which was another addition of rules not put in the origional Constitution. The power of judicial review was never explicitly stated in the Constitution, yet Justice Marshall added it to the law because he felt it was a necessary part of living in a free country.
